Olds Sleeper – in the darkness of fall and winter

There is a rare Gem in Lancaster, Pennsylvania known as Olds Sleeper. To put into words the feeling Olds music has, is impossible. Raw, gritty, blue and 100% true is the best I have come up with. I have to take a step back every time Olds releases a new album. This one fall’s true to Olds style of those raw emotions he pours into every song and it’s free. That’s right. You can pick up a few of Olds incredible prior albums for free as well. When Olds does charge a fee, it is small and mostly donated to charity. Do your self a huge favor and download this great album. Then find some spare change to buy the others.

Double Headed Trouble from The Black River Bluesman

Finland has 187,888 lakes and 179,584 islands, but only one Lowebow. Jukka “Black River Bluesman” Juhola has a sound so unique its turning heads all over the world. Take for instance, the song I kept hearing about from The Deep Blues Festival III was “There is No Relief”. Have you heard this song? Well if you were there and experienced it live now you can own what I found to be the most talked about song performed that weekend. Double Headed Trouble, the 4th release from The Black River Bluesman now available.

Jukka tells a little about were he come from in “There is No Relief”. He sings “16 hours of sunlight in 37 days”. Could this be were Jukka draws his inspiration from for his music? I’m not sure but I can say this; wielding one of only two hand crafted Lowebow’s made by legendary Luthier John Lowe. The Black River Bluesmans’ release of Double Headed Trouble has just what it take to make you just say, “Damn that’s GOOD!” Once again a Lowebow has been paired with a perfect match. Pick up your copy today. Rev.Nix

Don’t take my word for it, read what Rick Saunders has to say…

DESTROYED THE WOODS AND THE MOUNTAINS AROUND THEIR HOMETOWN BY CARVING THEIR GUITARS, DRUMS AND HARMONICAS FROM WHOLE IRONWOOD TREES WITH THEIR BARE HANDS AND BY USING JOHN HENRY’S 12 POUND HAMMER THEY BEAT DOWN THOSE MOUNTAINS FOR BRASS, SILVER AND IRON TO FASHION THE REST OF THE PARTS THEY NEEDED.THEN THEY STOMPED THEIR THIRST WITH A BOTTLE OF RL BURNSIDE’S BLOODY MTHRFCKR AND SAT DOWN IN THE FULL MOONLIGHT AT THAT MUDDY CROSSROADS …RICK SAUNDERS

A Hollowed Review – Olds Sleeper

Quick review:  “My real point is how intelligent his music is. Not to mention his ability to produce,  he layers his sound almost like a painting. One guy in a basement. Think about it….” Jim Mitchell of Cigar City CBG’s
