    Timing and rhythm are some of the toughest facets of playing to master.

    Unfortunately rhythm isn’t something that can be taught, at least in my experience.

    What helped me was to listen to songs I have always listened to and tried to find the bass or drums in the song. They’re always a solid place to find the rhythm. After a while you may start to see the patterns and be able to grasp the rhythm a little better.

    The timing is the easier part to practice. The best way would be to play along with a recording of the song you are trying to learn or use a metronome. Acoustic versions of songs are great for this, as you can more clearly hear the changing chords and it can be easier to match up.
